Travel Enthusiast, Patrick D. Kearney’s Take on Dubai

Patrick Kearney

DUBAI, DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Patrick Kearney began his trip in the lap of luxury as he flew to Dubai on Emirates Airlines direct from JFK airport. The airline offers world-class accommodations and doesn’t spare any conveniences. From a lounge to the finest, chef-prepared cuisine, this is the way to travel.

Patrick Kearney stayed at the indulgent Oberoi Dubai, five-star hotel. The Oberoi offers a coveted rooftop view of the Burj Khalifa. Patrick stated, “My senses were immediately overwhelmed with glamorous people, impeccable architecture, and cultural experiences that are unparalleled.” Patrick continued, “This is the most modern, innovative melting pot with amazing restaurants, and service that’s beyond comprehension.”

Dubai is known for its Indian, Middle Eastern, European, Filipino, Turkish and Lebanese cultural experiences, but do not let this cause any apprehension about language barriers, as English is the primary spoken language. In Dubai, the locals and business owners are welcoming and kind and appreciate visitors.

Patrick D. Kearney explained his trip further, “It’s a safe place to visit; I never once felt apprehensive. There are also different levels of travel for individuals from all walks of life. Of course, there is the shi-shi, ultimate, luxurious experience, but if you just want a vegan kabob, slice of pizza or some hummus and pita, everything is available. Many places offer various levels of pricing. There are also less expensive hotels and other places to stay to accommodate different budgets.

“The desert is glorious, and the stars are expansive. I’ve never seen anything like the bright-glowing sunsets that enveloped the skies each of the seven nights of my stay. In contrast, “Patrick continued, “ the beaches are pristine with sapphire blue calm water that had the most gorgeous people sunbathing and enjoying a refreshing swim. The best part about the beach is that it was alongside the skyscraping city limits for the most impressive effect and view.”

Patrick Daniel Kearney is a well-traveled man. With trips to almost every country and nearly every state here in the U.S., Patrick Kearney knows what to look for when it comes to finding the perfect vacation spot, your next adventure, or a journey or mission trip that peaks the everyday person’s interest.

European Christmas market cruises are a great way to enjoy festive Christmas in Europe by being able to quickly visit many of Europe’s famed Christmas markets.

SPRING, TX, USA, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — These Christmas markets are one of the best reasons to spend the holidays in Europe. The street markets are held during the four weeks of Advent, starting in late November and usually closing just before the end of December. They are a venerable holiday tradition that draws tourists from all over the world.

Christmas markets were first held in Germany, but these days, you can find them not only in Europe but also in many countries all over the world.

It should not be surprising that the best Christmas markets are held in Germany. There are markets in cities all over the country, but the most popular ones are in Cologne. The largest market is situated in front of the historic Cologne Cathedral, which is the country’s most visited tourist attraction.

The market boasts not only of delicious food and drinks such as mulled wine and cinnamon biscuits, but also entertainment. There are stages situated throughout the market, with performances ranging from gospel to swing music. And of course, you can shop for crafts that you can take home as gifts or souvenirs.

Austria is another great destination for people wanting to visit Christmas markets. One of the best known is the Christkindlmarkt, which is found in Rathausplatz, Vienna. The market attracts tourists from all over the world and boasts of more than 150 stalls, where you can shop for gifts and enjoy holiday food and drinks. There are even rides and a skating rink.

While the Christmas markets of France are not as well known or popular as those in Austria or Germany, they are still worth visiting. The oldest one is in Strasbourg, where the first market dates back to 1577. It practically oozes with old world charm as visitors can walk the cobbled streets and look at half-timbered houses done up in their best Christmas finery.

The market not only boasts of stalls serving traditional holiday fare such as its spicy hot orange juice and bredle Christmas cookies, but also Strasbourg’s famed Great Christmas Tree, which rises a hundred feet into the air. There are also themed events, as well as a giant ice rink for guests to enjoy.

Taking one of our Christmas cruises down the Rhine River lets you visit the markets of Cologne, as well as those of Koblenz, Rudesheim and Frankfurt. You can then proceed to French Christmas markets located in Strasbourg, Colmar and Mulhouse. If you avail of our Danube River cruise, you can visit markets in Passau, Vienna and Salzburg.

Our European Christmas market cruises offer a variety of itineraries, ranging from seven-day cruises down the Danube and Rhine to a shorter one down the Danube with options for land extensions. You can also avail of Christmas Time Land Tours, which are escorted tours of German Christmas markets. Visit europeanbarging.com to learn more about the Christmas market river cruises that are available.

Douglas Greenberg heads to Tanzania in readiness to scale Mount Kilimanjaro

Douglas Greenberg

Former Morgan Stanley broker Douglas Greenberg and sons depart Oregon to tackle Africa's tallest mountain.

PORTLAND, OREGON, USA, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Following months of preparation, wealth advisor, senior portfolio manager, and former Morgan Stanley broker Douglas Greenberg has this week left the Oregon city of Portland, headed for Tanzania in readiness to climb Africa's tallest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro. Here, father of two Greenberg reveals more about the much-anticipated trip, and what's in store.

Greenberg, accompanied by his two grown-up sons, will travel approximately 15,000 kilometers from his home in Oregon to Tanzania in north-easternmost Africa to undertake the challenge of a lifetime. "Even as keen hikers and climbers, our trip to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro definitely represents our most significant challenge to date," he explains.

At close to 6,000 meters, Kilimanjaro's highest volcanic peak soars way above Africa's second-tallest mountain, Mount Kenya, by hundreds of meters. Bordered by Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Mozambique, Malawi, Rwanda, Burundi, and Zambia, the United Republic of Tanzania is located within Africa's Great Lakes region.

Tanzania is known for its vast wilderness areas, including the plains of the Serengeti National Park, home to rhino, elephants, lions, leopards, and buffalo, while offshore lie the tropical islands of Zanzibar and Mafia, with the latter, in particular, home to whale sharks and an abundance of incredible coral reefs.

Despite being located on the Earth's equator, because climbing Mount Kilimanjaro involves ascending close to 20,000 feet, much of the trek consists of tackling immense cold. "Our mission to summit the incredible Mount Kilimanjaro will see my sons and I initially head out through open grassland and dense jungle before reaching alpine forests and magnificent but unforgiving arctic tundra," reveals Douglas Greenberg.

"We're under no illusion about the mammoth challenge which lies ahead," he adds, wrapping up, "but we cannot wait to begin our adventure."

Texas-born father of two Douglas Greenberg is a resident of Lake Oswego, located 10 miles south of Portland, Oregon. A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business Executive Education programs and a former Morgan Stanley executive director, wealth advisor, and senior portfolio manager, Greenberg is known for his problem-solving skills, as well as specializing in alternative investments and asset allocation. A fan of professional soccer and basketball, Douglas Greenberg holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Dallas and, in his spare time, enjoys hiking, sailing, and wine tasting in addition to travel, skiing, and scuba diving.

Be aware. Have a plan of action. Know what to do, where and how to strike.

Remember, the predator does not care if you live or die. The predator does not care if you ever go home see your family or loved ones again. Fight back with an unrelenting violent counter attack.”

— Rob Fletcher self defense and combative tactics expert

COLUMBUS, OH, UNITED STATES, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE POWER TO FIGHT BACK

SELF-DEFENSE – FITNESS – COMBATIVE TACTICS EXPERT SHARES 9 LIFE-SAVING TIPS

Rob Fletcher, self-defense, fitness and combative tactics expert and fighter for good, shares advice and 9 tips that can save lives in a world where evil exists and crime, violence, abduction, human trafficking, and active shooters will never go away. Recently, an 11-year-old boy found the inner strength, bravery, and courage to fight back when an intruder broke into his home. Referring to the boy’s harrowing incident in which he attacked the intruder with a machete, Rob Fletcher said, “We never wish any child to have to deal with such a violent, traumatic, surreal nightmare. This, however, is the world we live in. Most important is what we can do now – right now – to better prepare ourselves should the unthinkable happen.”

Fletcher provides basic, yet valuable, tips and advice with the potential to save lives:

1. Prevention is always our best self-defense; practice positive daily habits of safety and awareness rather than be frozen with paranoid fear.

2. Prepare with premeditated thoughts and actions.

3. Ask yourself and your loved ones: What would you do? How would you react? Would you run? Would you be paralyzed by fear? Would you fight back?

4. Have a plan of action.

5. If you choose to fight back, commit wholeheartedly to an extreme, violent counterattack to escape and survive.

6. Know that a predator does not care if you live or die or if you ever see your family or loved ones again.

7. If you fight back, look for accessible objects to throw or strike with.

8. Know where to strike – Primary, most vulnerable target areas are the eyes, nose, and groin.

9. Know how to strike – Learn simple, highly effective self-defense strikes and fighting skills.

If you are (or appear) vulnerable, you are the perfect victim. Don’t be the perfect victim. Refuse to be the perfect victim. Instead, be aware. Be prepared. Have a plan. Take action. Stay strong and stay safe. And always stay in the fight!

Says radio host Gabbi Ray of Rob Fletcher, “He’s a really good guy who teaches good people how to do bad things to bad people.” Rob is available for interviews, seminars, appearances, and to provide additional safety, prevention, awareness and self-defense programs, and training.

Thailand Incentive & Meeting Exchange (TIME) 2019 enriches business opportunities for delegates

Thailand Incentive & Meeting Exchange (TIME) 2019 enriches business opportunities for delegates

Top executives from TCEB, TICA and SITE Thailand Chapter as well as the public and private sector partners staged the 4th annual TIME 2019 under a ‘Togetherness Concept.’

TCEB highlights strategic campaigns that capture imagination of international planners at TIME 2019.

BANGKOK, THAILAND, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA), and SITE Thailand Chapter showcased the local MICE industry's best and brightest that will expand business opportunities for delegates attending the Thailand Incentive & Meeting Exchange (TIME) 2019, a TCEB’s annual event, from 10 to 15 June.

TCEB President Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya said that TIME 2019, now in its fourth year, offered fresh opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs to expand their horizons by targeting new partners and starting new business negotiations. The event serves as a platform to deliver international experiences that help expand Thailand's meetings and incentives sector.

"At TIME 2019, TCEB hosted 40 meetings and incentives (MI) events planners from the ASEAN+6 countries, which are Thailand’s main meetings and incentives source markets. We have come up with a coherent strategy that is consistent in positioning TCEB as a thought leader, co-creator, collaborator and partner for MICE success, all reflecting our new “Thailand Redefine Your Business Events” branding,” he said.

Mr. Chiruit added that TIME 2019 was organised through a collaboration with Thai Airways International (THAI), Bangkok Airways and BMW (Thailand) under a ‘Togetherness Concept’. It is a joint business strategy that focuses on Asian culture, which generally values companionship and amusement as a basis for strong business relationships.

The Togetherness Concept at TIME 2019 comprises three main elements. The ‘Knowledge Exchange’ participatory seminars and the ‘Business Exchange’ between 40 Thai MICE entrepreneurs and the 40 MI events planners were held on 11 June in Bangkok, followed by the ‘Experience Exchange’ trip to experience local culture in Phuket and Phang Nga from 12 to 15 June.

TCEB also announced new campaign and reiterated existing ones for attendees at TIME 2019. The “TIME to MEET” campaign offers up to 500 baht subsidy per one traveller or 500,000 baht per group for companies with MI groups of 50 people or more, that stay in Thailand at least three nights. The “M & I Reward” campaign offers a subsidy from 100,000 to two million baht for customers who hold MI events in Thailand at least three times a year. The “ASEAN MaxiMICE” campaign offers group privileges for 40 people or more from Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines who are travelling on THAI and staying at least two nights in Thailand. The “Fly and Meet Double Bonus Redefined” campaign offers up to 300,000 baht subsidy for MI groups of at least 30 people from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam, who are travelling on Bangkok Airways and staying at least two nights in Thailand. There are also souvenirs, traditional Thai welcome ceremony, MICE Lane service as other forms of support.

TIME 2019 expects to attract over 2,000 visitors from MI segments, generating revenue up to 152 million baht. The event is expected to increase overall MICE travellers to over 1.32 million arrivals and add more than 100 billion baht of revenue to Thailand in 2019.

In the first half of the 2019 fiscal year (October 2018 – March 2019), overall MICE arrivals for MI events held in Thailand totalled 348,645, representing 58% of overall international MICE visitors. These generated approximately 25.7 billion baht for Thailand, representing 57% of total MICE revenue.

International scientists find evidence on how marine pollution could cause orca infertility

International scientists find evidence on how marine pollution could cause orca infertility

International scientists find evidence on how marine pollution could cause orca infertility 2

International scientists find evidence on how marine pollution could cause orca infertility 3

A study conducted at Loro Parque reveals negative effects of contraceptives that could explain the mechanism by which some toxic substances affect fertility

The knowledge obtained of how oestrogens affect and disturb regular cycles in orcas could help to understand how chemical pollution is affecting the reproduction of the wild populations.”

— Loro Parque's Statement

PUERTO DE LA CRUZ, SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, SPAIN, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A scientific study carried out by international experts in cetacean health reveals the first evidence of the harmful effects that contraceptives have on orcas and contributes to understanding how the chemical pollution of the seas affects the reproduction of cetaceans. The study led by veterinary specialist Doctor Geraldine Lacave and recently presented at the International Congress on Aquatic Animal Medicine held in South Africa, demonstrates the serious damage that chemical toxins cause in regular ovulation cycles, thus affecting the reproduction of this species of cetacean in the long term.

The suspicion that chemical toxins such as PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls) interfere with oestrogen receptors (female sex hormones that regulate reproductive cycles in orcas) and affect the reproduction of marine species dates back in time. However, it was from the case study of the orca Lulu, stranded in 2017, in Scotland, when the concern for the study of the effect of oestrogens was markedly accentuated, since this female had the highest levels of PCBs found so far and evidence was found that she had never reproduced.

In this regard and in order to investigate the matter, Dr. Lacave analysed more than 57,000 videos of the ovaries of the orcas housed in Loro Parque, Tenerife, obtained during more than 4,500 ultrasounds performed by the veterinarians and trainers of this zoo since 2012. And it was thanks to access to this information that it has been possible to reconstruct the entire process of ovulation of the orcas. It should be noted that this type of research can only be done with animals in controlled environments such as zoos, as it requires regular access to the animals to be able to perform ultrasounds and follow in detail the entire process of ovulation of the females.

Thanks to this opportunity to carefully analyse the ovulation of orcas, dozens of ovulations have been followed day by day and irregular cycles have been detected (abnormally shortened or lengthened), as well as cycle delays, very long periods without ovulation, follicular cysts and even one ovulation during contraceptive treatment. Given that this study has been carried out more intensively in the last five years, there is still no information available on the problems that could be caused by long-term contraceptive treatments, but the intensity and variety of the ovulatory problems give reason to suspect that they could be serious. Since it’s believed that PCBs could block oestrogen receptors in orcas by a mechanism similar to that of contraceptives, these results would explain that even small concentrations of these toxic substances seriously affect the reproductive cycles of the orcas, reducing their fertility.

The most important thing about this scientific finding is that the information studied in the zoo will contribute to the conservation of this species of cetacean in nature, since the knowledge obtained of how oestrogens affect and disturb regular cycles in orcas could help to understand how chemical pollution is affecting the reproduction of the wild populations, not only of orcas, but also of dolphins, and in the future of other species of marine mammals. This is clear evidence of the role modern zoos play in species conservation.

Changing the lives of children with special needs

Pro surfer and board shaper Guy Takayama coming to North Carolina surf camps in July

WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC, USA, June 17, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Preparing a child to meet the challenges of life is a complicated journey. The journey is extraordinarily complex and frequently laden with obstacles for children with special needs.

Surf camps by non-profit Indo Jax Charities serve children facing a variety of life challenges, including visual impairment, autism, cancer, loss of parents, and juvenile diabetes. New on the summer schedule for 2019 is a session for Special Olympians.

“We always start wherever the child is in their life. Every child has a different goal,” said Jack Viorel, founder of Indo Jax Surf Charities. “Some children are working on mobility; others might be working on communication. Some are working on fear. We work on whatever the child needs. We don’t have a set agenda. When you do that you can always be successful.”

Twelve years and more than 5,000 students later, Viorel’s unique curriculum has gained international media attention and accolades from both parents and children.

“The most powerful thing we do is to help children get out of their comfort zone and succeed,” said Viorel. “When I was a school teacher, I always knew surfing could be used to build confidence and self-esteem in children with special needs.”

World champion surfer, artist, and surfboard shaper Guy Takayama will join the Indo Jax team for the Visually Impaired and Special Olympics camps in mid-July. “He has worked with blind children and Special Olympians through his charity in California,” said Viorel. “Guy also handcrafted a surfboard to help support our North Carolina camps and had it signed by famous surfers such as David Nuuhiwa and Jericho Poppler.” The Takayama board will be auctioned at a charity event later this summer.

No child is turned away from the special needs surf camps due to inability to pay. “Thanks to individuals and organizations like Live Oak Bank, United Healthcare, the Jordan Spieth Foundation, and Blockade Runner Beach Resort, we can keep up with most of the demand,” said Viorel. “The last two years, our Autism camps filled and were closed to new registrations. We’re still working to hold more programs to accommodate the needs of these children.”
