Eco-Friendly Villas the way of the future according to Exceptional Villas

We are delighted with the response and interest we have received on our new eco-friendly portfolio as well as the support from owners in adopting environmental improvements”

— Alexandra Baradi

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, IRELAND, October 25, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — With an increase in climate temperature of 1.62 degrees Fahrenheit or almost one degree Celsius and the subsequent impact of that on our environment, weather, seas and glaciers, it has never been more important for every single person on our planet to do what they can to reduce their carbon and ecological footprint. With that mind, Exceptional Villas, who are widely considered to be the worlds most trusted villa rental company have launched a new eco-friendly portfolio that includes villas, private islands and vacation rentals all over the world.

The aim is to encourage both owners and clients to think about the environment and how they can make a difference. The global villa rental company are 100% committed to raising awareness of the importance of being eco-friendly and staying in Eco Friendly Villas while travelling.

There are two important parts of this journey. It starts with encouraging as many villa and vacation rental property owners to adopt sustainability goals within their existing properties or when developing new properties. And to ensure these objectives are in line with the United Nations 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) to transform the world. These include such items as responsible consumption and production, climate action and life below water. The second part of the campaign is to encourage as many of their discerning clients to book the properties that have made an exceptional effort in providing an environmentally friendly product.

Exceptional Villas have also issued guidelines, tips and advice on how clients can have the most environmentally friendly vacation possible. These guidelines include tips such as

1) Only using reef-safe sunscreens, shampoos and body wash while on vacation. Reef safe means that these products are
not toxic to the coral reef ecosystem or underwater life.
2) Using natural chemical-free mosquito repellent.
3) Switching off air-conditioning unless necessary and especially closing doors to the outside when the air-conditioning system is in use.
4) Choosing eco-friendly villas and vacation rentals
5) Visiting Zero Kilometer Restaurants where all the food is grown and produced in the gardens or farm of the
restaurant. Equally Farm to Table restaurants is a great choice.
6) Choosing countries that are high up on the Environment Performance Index (EPI) such as Switzerland and Costa Rica.
7) Spending more time doing non-motorized water sports such as scuba diving, snorkelling and sailing
8) Supporting businesses, restaurants and bars that already are committed to sustainability.

Merkley and Collins’ RAWR Act to Crackdown on Wildlife Trafficking and Terrorist Regimes Passes U.S. Senate

Ivory from Elephant Tusks is Commonly Trafficked

Animal Wellness Brands Logo

Anti-wildlife trafficking is first animal protection bill to be passed through
the House and Senate in 2019

Wildlife crimes undermine national security and cause immense cruelty to animals.”

— Marty Irby, executive director at Animal Wellness Action

WASHINGTON, DC, USA, October 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — This week, the United States Senate passed the Rescuing Animals With Rewards (RAWR) Act, S. 1590, introduced by U.S. Senators Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Susan Collins (R-ME). It’s first stand-alone animal protection measure to pass both the House and the Senate in the 116th Congress. The House companion bill, H.R. 97, passed in July. The bill must go back to the House one more time for final approval.

The legislation would amend the State Department Basic Authorities Act of 1956 to authorize rewards for thwarting wildlife trafficking linked to terrorism and organized crime.

Wildlife trafficking is a major transnational crime that is estimated to generate over $10 billion a year in illegal profits, and the drivers of the enterprise are often organized, sophisticated criminal enterprises, including known terrorist organizations. Wildlife trafficking not only threatens endangered species worldwide, but also jeopardizes local security, spreads disease, undermines rule of law, fuels corruption, and damages economic development.

“Wildlife crimes undermine national security and cause immense cruelty to animals,” said Marty Irby, executive director at Animal Wellness Action. “We applaud the Congress for offering a creative way to crack down on these international crimes and call on the House to take action now, and for President Trump to swiftly ink the RAWR Act into law.”

“When wildlife traffickers, poachers, and profiteers kill magnificent animals like elephants, giraffes, and rhinos, they risk causing irreparable destruction to critical ecosystems and rob the world of a piece of our humanity and shared history on this planet,” said U.S. Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR). “This week, the Senate took an important step toward righting this wrong, and now I’m urging my colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives to pass this bill without delay.”

“Wildlife trafficking is a transnational crime that requires a coordinated and sustained global effort to effectively combat it,” said U.S. Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). “The bipartisan RAWR Act will allow the State Department to offer rewards for information regarding wildlife traffickers, building upon ongoing efforts to deter this illegal activity that harms animals and threatens conservation efforts.”

The passage of the RAWR Act comes on the heels of a recent House appropriations amendment championed by Animal Wellness Action and the Animal Wellness Foundation that passed by a vote of 239 to 192 to bar imports of sport-hunted trophies from elephants and lions, both listed as threatened or endangered across their range. Rep. Vern Buchanan (R-FL) led that amendment and Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV), the lead sponsor of the House passed RAWR Act, supported it.

Animal Wellness also supports other legislative initiatives to stop the trade in animal parts, including the Shark Fin Trade Elimination Act and the Bear Protection Act, which seeks to stop the killing of bears for their gall bladders.

The Animal Wellness Foundation (Foundation) is a Los Angeles-based private charitable organization with a mission of helping animals by making veterinary care available to everyone with a pet, regardless of economic ability. We organize rescue efforts and medical services for dogs and cats in need and help homeless pets find a loving caregiver. We are advocates for getting veterinarians to the front lines of the animal welfare movement; promoting responsible pet ownership; and vaccinating animals against infectious diseases such as distemper. We also support policies that prevent animal cruelty and that alleviate suffering. We believe helping animals helps us all.

Animal Wellness Action (Action) is a Washington, D.C.-based 501(c)(4) organization with a mission of helping animals by promoting legal standards forbidding cruelty. We champion causes that alleviate the suffering of companion animals, farm animals, and wildlife. We advocate for policies to stop dogfighting and cockfighting and other forms of malicious cruelty and to confront factory farming and other systemic forms of animal exploitation. To prevent cruelty, we promote enacting good public policies and we work to enforce those policies. To enact good laws, we must elect good lawmakers, and that’s why we remind voters which candidates care about our issues and which ones don’t. We believe helping animals helps us all.

International Chefs Day Celebrated with Healthy Food Workshop at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center

Celebrating International Chefs Day, Rene Marquis, President of the American Culinary Federation Tampa Chapter, passed out samples of exotic fruit like the Rambutan, a fruit native to Malaysia, after enlightening children on the importance of eating heal

Chef Rene and Chef Zoltan helped them realize that eating healthy can be just as fun, if not more, than consuming copious amounts of junk food.”

— Michael Soltero, Director of the CCV Center

CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, US, October 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — In honor of International Chefs’ Day, the World Association of Chefs Societies brought fun and nutrition to the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center this past Monday. Two schools took part in the event, which featured two award-winning chefs, Rene Marquis, President of the American Culinary Federation Tampa Chapter, and Zoltan Vajna, Executive Chef of the Church of Scientology. The chefs tag-teamed to deliver the “How Healthy Food Works” workshop in which they educated children on various exotic fruits from the world over.

77 children and their teachers listened intently as Marquis and Vajna presented fruits such as the Rambutan from Malaysia, Dragon Fruit from Peru and Jackfruit from India which were cut only minutes before. The chefs discussed the importance of eating healthy, avoiding junk food and the nutritional value of each fruit before providing samples to the children to try.

Per the Worldchefs’ website, International Chefs Day was created in 2004 by esteemed chef Dr. Bill Gallagher in 2004. Worldchefs used International Chefs Day to celebrate their profession, remembering that it is their “duty to pass on our knowledge and culinary skills to the next generation of chefs with a sense of pride and commitment to the future.”

Per the Worldchef’s website, “We want to show how food affects our bodies internally. Following the last two years of Healthy Heroes and Healthy Foods for Growing up, How Healthy Food Works goes deeper into what different foods do for us and why we need them.”

Michael Soltero, Manager of the CCV Center said, “Partnering with Worldchefs allowed us this great opportunity to show kids what eating healthy can do for their growing bodies.”

After the demonstrations were over the students shouted an emphatic “Thank you!” to the chefs for their time and knowledge.

“Worldchefs’ workshop gave a fundamental lesson in eating a proper diet to take care of ourselves and live happier lives.” said Soltero. “Kids’ diets tend to be packed with sugar and carbohydrates. Chef Rene and Chef Zoltan helped them realize that eating healthy can be just as fun, if not more, than consuming copious amounts of junk food.”

Worldchefs is an international network comprised of more than 100 chef associations which represent chefs of all skill levels and specialties, with millions of members across the globe.

To find out more information about the CCV Center please call Michael Soltero at (727) 316-5309 or email ccvdirector@ccvfl.org.

CHTA renews commitment to bring premier Caribbean travel and tourism marketing event to Baha Mar, Bahamas in 2020

MIAMI, UNITED STATES, October 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Citing the new tourism offerings in The Bahamas and throughout the Caribbean and the opportunity to showcase the nation of islands to the travel world following Hurricane Dorian, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) reaffirmed that all systems are go to bring the region's largest and longest-standing tourism marketing event to The Bahamas January 21 to 23, 2020.

The 38th Caribbean Travel Marketplace (CTM) will bring together hotel and destination representatives as well as other tourism providers; wholesalers and tour operators; online travel agencies; along with media representatives for two intensive days of business meetings, including thousands of prescheduled appointments.

This marquee event will be held at Baha Mar's Performing Arts and Convention Center, at one of the newest and most impressive resorts in the Caribbean region. The Bahamian government also recently announced that Baha Mar is pushing forward a $300 million dollar expansion of the resort. This will not only bring exciting new features to the resort but create employment opportunities for Bahamians.

The CHTA meetup is a collaboration with local partners Baha Mar, the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA), the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism and Aviation, and the Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board.

CHTA President Patricia Affonso-Dass asserted that the destination is ready for the event: "Our immediate assessment following Dorian revealed that most of The Bahamas was unaffected by this situation and without question we knew that The Bahamas and in particular the Baha Mar complex remain the ideal location for CTM 2020. The travel trade is interested in seeing one of the region's newest and largest resort complexes and supporting The Bahamas."

She also noted that attendees will have the opportunity to experience The Bahamas Out Islands before and after the conference thanks to a special initiative of The Bahamas Out Islands Promotion Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation.

Bahamas Minister of Tourism Dionisio D'Aguilar encouraged attendees to register: "Prior to Dorian's impact, The Bahamas was trending towards its best tourism performance ever and expectations are that with the exception of Abaco and Grand Bahama, the rest of The Bahamas will continue on that trajectory for 2020. Hosting CTM will facilitate the remaining 14 destinations in The Bahamas to proudly showcase the resiliency of the destination, while tourism dollars will help to support the recovery of Abaco and its Cays and Grand Bahama."

"We are looking forward to an incredible travel event in The Bahamas, that brings together all stakeholders and business prospects to one location presenting the tourism industry with an opportunity to showcase the diverse products of the region, including many newly opened and upgraded properties," stated Frank Comito, CEO and Director General of CHTA.

"It's a one-stop gathering for hotels, attractions, airlines, tour operators and wholesalers, and destination DMOs to meet with the world's key decision-makers who influence consumer travel. It also is the industry's key forum for attracting new decision-makers who otherwise would not be familiar with the region – thus opening up new markets to the Caribbean, both from different geographic areas around the world as well as with new niche markets," he added.

The meeting will build on the success of the previous Marketplace in Jamaica, which attracted 64 new buyers, including 18 new Chinese entrants.

Travelife Gold certification showcases the sister resorts' commitment to sustainability and fair practices

SAINT LUCIA, October 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Nick and Karolin Troubetzkoy, owners of Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet in St. Lucia, have announced the hotels' recertification for the internationally renowned Travelife Gold Certification for Hotels and Accommodations. The twin properties are the only Gold-certified accommodations on the island.

Travelife, the sustainable tourism certification system, has reassessed Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet's performance in responsibly managing their socioeconomic and environmental impacts. The resorts first achieved certification in 2017 and have worked hard to maintain the title.

To gain a Travelife Gold certification, Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet were assessed against 88 sustainability criteria that take into account the following environmental issues and positive social impacts:
-Protecting the environment, by minimizing the amount of energy, waste and water used;
-Respecting and treating employees fairly;
-Respecting the local community, including its residents and the safeguarding of children;
-Protecting the local culture, heritage, and wildlife of the destination; and
-Supporting the local economy and its businesses.

The Troubetzkoys said of the accolade: "We are absolutely delighted to have achieved Travelife Gold Certification once again, as environmental efforts have always been at the heart of our resorts. It is incredibly important to us that we continue to commit to sustainability and to supporting the local community year-over-year."

Environmental concerns, sustainability and community efforts are at the epicenter of Jade Mountain and Anse Chastanet, with daily practices set up to conserve water and energy and increase recycling efforts. These include but are not restricted to the following:

-The design of Jade Mountain reinforces the connection to the natural environment with passive ventilation of the rooms and natural day-lighting. Heating and cooling of the sanctuaries (rooms) are based entirely on the natural rhythms and cycles of the world. Not being dependent on artificial cooling or lighting of the rooms decreases the use of precious energy resources and minimizes the carbon footprint of the resort.
-The exterior plaza of Jade Mountain was designed to capture all the rainwater in Koi ponds and planting areas. The plants are then harvested for use in the resort's restaurants.
-A natural coral tile was used for exterior walkways and roof areas. It is highly reflective and effectively diminishes any "heat island" effect in the local micro-climate.
-Potable water for the resorts is produced by collecting it in a reservoir that was originally constructed and used by the British and French to power the water wheels that crushed sugar cane. The reservoir was repaired after decades of not being used and now collects over 1.5 million gallons of water annually that is gravity-fed to a state-of-the-art water purification system.
-Only local, indigenous plants were used in the landscaping, which minimizes the need for watering and protects a precious resource.
-The resorts were the catalyst behind the coral reefs of St. Lucia being declared a marine reserve to protect this valuable resource.
-The resorts provide alternative transportation for its employees. On a daily basis, shuttles are scheduled hourly to transport workers from the resort to the local community, keeping carbon emissions to a minimum.
During the construction of Jade Mountain, any left-over construction materials were distributed to the local workforce for use on their own properties.
-Construction materials that were used primarily came from the island, reducing the use of fossil fuels for transportation and the resultant pollution. For example, wood used was harvested from a managed forest.
-During construction, the workers were protected through the implementation of an Indoor Air Quality plan that minimized worker's exposure to harmful airborne compounds.
-Low emitting materials (paints, adhesives, etc.) were used throughout the resorts, which effectively eliminated volatile organic compounds (VOCs) that are detrimental to a person's health.
-Guests are given the opportunity to learn about the resorts' sustainability programs and actively participate in environmental activities such as reef cleaning and tree planting.

Nightly rates at Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain start at US$375 and US$1,080, respectively, per room based on double occupancy. Rates are subject to 10% service charge and 10% VAT. To book visit www.ansechastanet.com or www.jademountain.com.

About Jade Mountain
Rising majestically above the 600-acre beachfront resort of Anse Chastanet, Jade Mountain Resort on St. Lucia's southwestern Caribbean coastline is a cornucopia of organic architecture celebrating the island's stunning scenic beauty. Architect owner Nick Troubetzkoy has expanded upon his philosophy of building in harmony with Caribbean nature in his creation of Jade Mountain. The bold architectural design – individual bridges leading to exceptional infinity pool sanctuaries and rugged stoned-faced columns reaching towards the sky – makes Jade Mountain one of the Caribbean's most mesmerizing resort experiences.

For more information, visit www.jademountain.com.

Green Globe recently recertifed Akoya Hotel & Spa with the hotel receiving a notable compliance score of 82%.

The property’s sustainability performance continues to improve as new green initiatives and strategies are implemented.

A Resource Management Policy has been developed whereby energy and water consumption are routinely monitored. Recorded data analysed monthly provides clear, accurate readings that assists with detecting any malfunctions or problems requiring attention. Additional energy saving measures include the use of photovoltaic panels installed on roof tops that supply the kitchen and pool with solar energy. Hot water tanks are also heated by solar power. Furthermore, the resort uses a BMS to regulate temperatures in rooms while key cards activate lighting and power in guest rooms. These effective approaches have led to significant savings for the property.

Akoya Hotel & Spa has created its own organic kitchen garden which grows seasonal fruits and vegetables for use in restaurant kitchens. The Spa also serves organic homemade iced tea with lemongrass freshly harvested from the Akoya garden.

The hotel has partnered with the Recycling Office (Bureau Recyclage) to support the establishment of a circular economy on the island that is more respectful of the environment. The Recycling Office is a company that collects and recycles office paper, plastic bottles and metal cans in Reunion. Recycling bins have been set up for paper and plastic bottles at the property as well as collection bins for used batteries.

Green Globe Certification Awarded to Hilton Dubai The Walk

HIlton Dubai The Walk

Hilton Dubai The Walk has been awarded its first Green Globe certification in acknowledgement of its sustainability efforts.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, October 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ —
Green Globe recently awarded Hilton Dubai The Walk its inaugural certification with the hotel attaining a commendable compliance score of 84%.

Andreas Searty, Cluster General Manager of Hilton Dubai The Walk, Hilton Dubai Jumeirah and Hilton Dubai Creek said, ‘‘Sustainability has always been a key focus area for our hotel, and I am very proud that Hilton Dubai The Walk has been awarded its first Green Globe certification in recognition of these efforts. At Hilton Dubai The Walk, we are redefining sustainable travel by raising awareness amongst our community by promoting recycling, responsible sourcing and waste reduction throughout our hotel.”

Travel with Purpose is Hilton’s corporate responsibility strategy to redefine and advance sustainable travel globally. By 2030, Hilton plans to double its social impact investment and cut its environmental footprint by half. In line with these goals, various environmental initiatives have been introduced at the Hilton Dubai The Walk to minimize negative impacts. Actions include the elimination of all plastic straws and bottles from restaurants, bars and the gym. Plastic pens from guest rooms have also been removed and replaced with pencils. This year, the property diverted even more waste from landfill by taking part in the Can Collection Drive 2019, with Team Members collecting 23 kilos of empty cans and delivering them to the Emirates Environmental Group for recycling. In addition, Team Members from all departments are actively involved in improving waste practices by segregating and recycling all discarded glass materials.

The hotel in association with Race ME, held its seventh annual Tower Race in 2018. The race saw 139 excited participants run up a challenging 36 floors and 730 steps to the top of the Hilton Dubai The Walk. The race received tremendous support from the local community with significant donations raised in support of the Rashid Center for The Disabled. The Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre is a humanitarian organization, which provides quality education and therapy services for children with special needs. Furthermore, to give back to the community, the Housekeeping Department donated over 6,000 kilos of retired linen to the Dubai Centre for Special Needs this year.

Hilton Dubai The Walk is ideally located on Jumeirah Beach's golden mile in the heart of Dubai Marina’s famous shopping mile, 'The Walk'. The property is linked via footbridge to the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Beach, allowing guests access to a vast array of resort amenities such as restaurants, bars, spa services, private beach, snorkeling, swimming and a game room for kids.
