The festival will take place across three days from the 8th to the 10th of February.

With the Race Hub based at an altitude of 1,260m, riders will join the mountain men and women to be tested with over 100km of rugged mountain terrain, flowing single tracks, technical trails, mammoth ascents, and awe inspiring downhills with some of the best mountain biking found anywhere in the world.

The stage race is based out of two of the region’s most popular resorts at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa and Thredbo Resort making this more than just a mountain bike race as athletes have the opportunity to take in all the 4.5 star facilities on offer; and experience the hospitality and local fare that only the Snowies region can deliver.

In 2019, the festival is ready to welcome back some of Australia’s finest elite mountain bikers including reigning champions Andy Blair and Zoe Cuthbert, previous champions Kyle Ward and Samara Sheppard as well as Peta Mullens, Emma Viotto, Cristy Henderson, James Downing, Karl Michelin-Beard, Jarrod Moroni, Ben Henderson and Charlie Todd to name just a few of the elites who will be in the hunt for the $5,000 cash prize purse.

But it’s not just about the elite racers. Hundreds of weekend warriors will join the festival in the age group stage race and Sunday’s 45k, 30k and 15k events which also includes solo and team options. This means anyone who rides a mountain bike can be a part of this iconic festival.

The 2019 Festival will see the launch of an all new stage taking in spectacular alpine vistas as it traverses the Lake Jindabyne foreshore along 16.2km of pumping single track.
As part of the new Stage 1 ‘Lake 2 Lake’, riders should be ready for a huge helping of heart pumping action as the Hatchery link takes riders on a roller coaster ride of fast, flowing single track trails while also providing some of the very best views of this incredible alpine location. Organisers have challenged riders to “not be smiling at the end of this super-fast blast.”

Large groups of mates and members of clubs are travelling from across the country and overseas to enjoy a weekend of biking, camaraderie and celebrations at the Snowies MTB Festival. Many have discovered this event is “more than just a mountain bike stage race.” They will join the Man from Snowy River and his mountain bread brumby, in what is arguably one of the most memorable starts to a MTB stage race, as he leads riders into the Thredbo Valley Trails.

The six stages offer a range of diverse terrain and riding experiences, and all within a 50km radius, making logistics easy, and riding fun. Stages include:
STAGE 1 | Fri AM | Lake 2 Lake – 16.2km traversing Lake Jindabyne.
STAGE 2 | Fri PM | Happy Hour Time Trial – 5.5km fast and furious time trial lap finishing at the Alpine Larder just in time for the Pizza Party and Happy Hour.
STAGE 3 | Sat AM |Thredbo Summit Smash – Smash it up the 19.5km ascent climbing 533m from Lake Crackenback to Friday Flat at Thredbo Resort.

The family opened Lamberts Van & Storage in 1933, which became one of the premier moving companies in Los Angeles. One of the Lambert’s children, Rene J Lambert, decided to venture out on his own fresh out of the U.S. Military. Along with his wife Marjorie, they opened Rene’s Van & Storage in 1945. The company was embraced by the community. Rene and his wife Marjorie made a name for themselves in the moving industry by being one of the first companies to offer public storage.

In the 1940’s and 1950’s, the couple purchased several moving companies around the Los Angeles area which helped grow the business and bring in high-profile customers. In the 1960’s, Rene and Marjorie purchased the family business (Lambert’s Van & Storage) from Rene’s siblings, further expanding their customer base.

In 2011, Lambert’s Van & Storage Inc. was merged into Rene’s Van & Storage Inc. combining two elite companies into one. Today, Rene’s Van & Storage is now managed by its third generation and currently holds the oldest California Moving License; the closest carrier is over 6,000 numbers away.

Millennial hotel guests want Netflix, Video Game Consoles and Wi-Fi, new research suggests

• 70% would be more likely to book a hotel if it featured up to date technology, such as keyless entry, mobile payments, Smart TVs and smartphone charging points

• Powerful Wi-Fi and Smart TVs with Netflix are the top features that would encourage millennials to book a hotel – surprisingly, 40% of male guests want video games consoles at a hotel

• 73% of Millennials check the social media feed of a hotel before booking

To understand how hoteliers can win over the most competitive demographic in the hospitality sector – millennials – hotel furniture brand Knightsbridge furniture surveyed 1000 18-34-year-olds to understand how they find hotels and what would encourage them to book.

70% of those surveyed would rather stay in a hotel that includes modern technology, namely Smart Thermostats, Smartphone Door Entry, Online check-in, Smartphone charging points, Smartphone payment and Smart TVs.

70% of millennials say that powerful wireless internet would encourage them to book a hotel, while more than a half of 18-34-year-olds would return to a hotel if it had powerful Wi-Fi (57%).

54% of those surveyed would book a hotel if it included Smart TVs with Netflix, with 40% of men wanting a video games console in a hotel – compared to just 22% of women.

Social media proved to be an important factor for millennials when it comes to hotels and travel with 1 in 4 millennials using social media sites to find their holiday accommodation.

83% of millennials said they would be more likely to book a hotel after seeing images from someone they follow on social media, 73% check the social media feed of hotel before booking and 1 in 3 would be put off booking altogether if a hotel had no social media presence.

Website performance was another key area of investment for hotels – 80% of millennials find a hotel using Google and more than half of millennials wouldn’t book a hotel if the website was difficult to use – with 49% put off if they couldn’t book instantly online.

Alan Towns, CEO of Knightsbridge furniture explained more about the research “Our research shows a shift in the priorities of travellers as a generation used to sharing and documenting its experiences becomes the dominant demographic – it’s telling that 57% of millennials would return to a hotel for a powerful wireless internet connection alone."
